17. Vienna


So this is where all the people went! We arrived in Vienna after a short train ride, passing the famous Melk Monastery, which is considered probably the greatest example of Baroque architecture. It looked amazing in passing, but unfortunately it was closed during the holiday period, so we missed out. Vienna is, of course, many multiples bigger than any other town in Austria, and it was especially buzzy toward the buildup to New Year's Eve. The streets shown in the photos are pedestrian only and lined with shops, although I didn't find them particularly attractive, sort of my reaction to Regent Street in London.
