Just some landmark palaces and churches along the Canal. The octagonal church is on the tip of the Dorsoduro jutting out into the lagoon, and is basically a mirror image of the San Giorgio Maggiore, which we visited earlier on its own little island.

isn't that top palace the one they pretended to blow up in either a recent james bond or and ocean's eleven movie?
I definitely remember a blowup in Ocean's eleven, but I'm too old to remember which palace. I also remember a Venice blowup in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (actually I think the whole city pretty much blows up in that one). Not sure about the Bond movie though.
