Down the street from the haunted house is the Piazza Barberini, where we're standing in front of yet another Bernini creation, this time a fountain that serves as a traffic circle. We had lunch at a fantastic restaurant down a small alley off the piazza, Colline Emiliane. The place was full of locals enjoying their Sunday brunch, and felt like a real discovery, which is weird because we "discovered" it in our guidebook. The place was pretty basic looking, but focused on the great food of Bologna, and we stuffed ourselves with great antipasti and pasta. Service was friendly, and interpreted our pointing very well. Food-15, Decor-8, Service-11.

We walked off lunch with a stroll on the Via Veneto, a very pretty tree-lined avenue made famous in the '50's classic La Dolce Vita. At the time it was the elegant epicentre of cafe society, but society has long since moved on. It's still a very pretty place, but the elegant cafes and their movie star clientele have been replaced with Rome's Hard Rock Cafe and similar venues. Oh, and needless to say, nary a movie star to be found.
