We visited a few temples in the area, stopping first at Pura Dalem Jagaraga. This temple was built on the site of a major battle between the Dutch and the Balinese in 1848. It's dedicated to the god Shiva, the Destroyer, but it's not particularly important for religious reasons. Most tourists come to look at the carvings. On one side of the temple are carvings of happy Balinese village life, while on the other are carvings of the Dutch ruining everything in their fancy cars and airplanes.
